We like these organizations. We think you will too:

Stitches Stitches   "Stitches is a non-profit charitable organization whose members contribute their talents by knitting, crocheting or quilting for needy children. The volunteers send their finished gifts of knitted and crocheted hats, booties, sweaters, blankets and quilts to Stitches headquarters. In turn, these items are added to other items and regularly sent to hospitals and charities throughout the United States. In just the first four years since Stitches was started, Stitches has donated over 102,800 hand-made warmth-giving items to over 380 hospitals charities and community centers nationwide."

Warm Up America! Warm Up America!   Warm Up America! is a non-profit program started in the mid-1990s by noted knitting teacher and author Evie Rosen. Evie envisioned getting volunteers nationwide to knit and crochet afghans for people in need. To appeal to a large audience, she came up with the idea of having volunteers knit or crochet 7" by 9" sections and then having other volunteers join them together into colorful "patchwork" afghans.

Meyer Memorial Trust Meyer Memorial Trust   The Meyer Memorial Trust was created by the late Fred G. Meyer, who built the chain of retail stores bearing his name throughout the Pacific Northwest. When Mr. Meyer died in 1978 at the age of 92, his will established the Trust, which began operating in 1982. In April 1990 the Fred Meyer Charitable Trust changed its name to Meyer Memorial Trust in order to emphasize that it is a private, independent foundation representing Mr. Meyer's personal philanthropy. The Meyer Memorial Trust has invested over million in education over the last 21 years.
